Penelitian ini mempunyai tujuan untuk menguji peningkatan kemampuan membaca permulaan dengan menggunakan media flash card. Hipotesis penelitian ini adalah media flash card efektif meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen pretest posttest kontrol group design. Terdapat dua kelompok yaitu kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol, dengan jumlah subjek.

ABSTRACT Novia Sari Hermawati. K8113059. THE INFLUENCE OF WORD SQUARE LEARNING MODEL BY USING FLASH CARD MEDIA TOWARD EARLY READING ABILITY OF CHILDREN 5-6 YEARS OLD. Script, Surakarta : Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Sebelas Maret University, July 2017. This research is aimed to know the influence of word square learning model by using flash card media toward early reading ability of children 5-6 years old. In this research used true experimental (True Experimental Design) with Pre-test Post-test Control Group Design. The sampling used Cluster Sampling. The samples used in this study are children 5-6 years old as many as 23 children as experimental group and children 5-6 years old as many as 23 children as a control group. Technique of collecting data using test. Instrument validity using Pearson Correlation Moment Product. Normality and homogeneity test used Shapiro Wilks and Levene Test for Equality of Variance. Hypothesis test used Independent Sample T-test and Paired Sample T-test by used SPSS 17 for Window. Based on the results of the analysis show that there is an influence of word square learning model by using flash cards media to the early reading ability of children 5-6 years old. Children are able to recognize letter symbols /b/, /c/, /d/, /f/, /g/, and read syllables /ba/, /ca/, /da/, /fa/, /ga/ through word square learning model by using flash cards media.
